Welcome to KountryShak Kandles

Pam and Nelson Butz bought the candle business formerly called “Scents from Heaven” made right here in Fort Scott, Kansas.

Fort Scott is in the Southeast corner of Kansas about 5 miles west of the Missouri Line. It is not only our home and the home of “KountryShak Kandles”, it is also the home of Fort Scott Historical Site (a frontier fort) and Fort Scott National Cemetery, No. 1.

We live just outside of Fort Scott and have converted Nelson’s workshop into the ‘KountryShak” where we pour our candles using a refined paraffin wax which holds an above average amount of fragrance oils and makes for long burning candles. We use lead free wicks with a zinc core and a 3/8” metal tab on the bottom which keeps the candles from burning completely dry, making a safer burning candle as well.

We are a small business, continuing to grow and to produce quality candles. We started making candles in October of 2007 and are having a great time. Between the two of us we have 9 children and 18 grand children located in Kansas, Missouri, Texas, Georgia and South Carolina. One of our daughters who lives nearby has just recently been taught to make candles and is already turning into a great sales person on the local level.
